COMMITING TO CHRIST'S CHURCH

JOIN US....

We believe that in order to be a biblically healthy church that multiplies based on the seven biblical functions found in Acts 1-2, we must have committed members that carry out the Mission and Vision of Bishop Branch (B3). All members confirm to the following covenant:

As a member of Bishop Branch Baptist Church, I affirm that I understand the Mission and Vision of B3:

I understand that B3’s mission is the Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20) founded on the Great Confession (Matt. 16:16) to accomplish the Great Commandment (Matt. 22:37–40). I affirm that I understand the Vision of B3 is to be a biblically healthy church that multiplies and that a biblically healthy church is defined as a church that carries out the seven biblical functions found in Acts 1-2 (Leadership, Worship, Prayer, Discipleship, Evangelism, Ministry, and Fellowship).

I affirm that I have repented of my sin and believed in the gospel described above, relying on Christ alone for my forgiveness and salvation. I affirm that I have been baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as a response to this profession of faith and to declare my covenant relationship with God through Christ.

I commit and covenant to strive…

  • to support and participate in the Mission and Vision of B3.

  • to have the attitude of Christ and put God’s kingdom agenda and other church members before my own wants and desires. (Phil 2:1-11)

  • I will be a unifying, sacrificing, others-focused, and kingdom-minded church member.

  • to gladly participate in acts of worship and worship services with my fellow church members. (Heb 10:24-25; Acts 2:42-47)

  • I will regularly and joyfully participate in worship, putting the worship of Christ as a priority above other activities. (There are some physical ailments and circumstances that can prevent people from being present. These do not violate the covenant nor do they ultimately prevent someone from worshiping and supporting the worship services of the church.)

  • to go and share the gospel with others in words and deeds and be excited about my Lord and Savior. (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Acts 4:19-20)

  • to a regular quiet time in the Bible and in prayer, and be involved in a Bible group and personal discipleship so that I might grow spiritually together with others through both biblical encouragement and accountability. (Acts 2:42-47; Col 1:28)

  • I will both give and receive biblical accountability with truth, grace, and gentleness.

  • to joyfully and lovingly serve others for their good and for God’s glory. (Matthew 20:26-28; Philippians 2:8; Hebrews 12:2)

  • to give abundantly and joyfully to the church, recognizing that God is the owner of all things I currently steward. (Matthew 6:19-24; 2 Corinthians 9:6-7)

  • I will sacrificially give in trust, obedience, and cheerfulness to the church. This includes my finances, time, and energy.

  • to participate in the life of our church because God leads me to do so and help maintain the unity of the church. (Ephesians 2:8-10; 4:1-6; 1 Corinthians 12)

  • to focus on the positive ways God is using the church, and not on the flaws of the church, its leaders, or its members. (Matthew 23:13-36; Philippians 4:8-9)

  • to pray that God will use me as an instrument to revive His church, for His name, and for His glory. (Philippians 2:14; 2 Corinthians 13:1-14)

  • When I notice a problem in the church, I will seek to understand the problem by asking questions. I will pray and seek God’s wisdom in His Word before addressing the issue. I will aim to revive and restore, to build up and not tear down, and to strengthen the relationships in the church.
